School
school's been great. my prof is more effective and efficient now with his teaching, making it more worthwhile in class. he was previously busy in helping the newly elected president write some proposals, dont ask me to elaborate more because i dont really know, he didnt say too much either. but school's definitely more fun now. of cos i can say this confidently too because i got back my grades and i did well for mid-terms. which has been encouraging for me because it means i'm on the right track. i didnt do as well for one though and i was disappointed because i was expecting to do well but i'll work harder for finals. i get two weeks off without any submission but i have to start working on my finals now to make sure i dont do last min work which tends to be crappy and lousy.
elections
the president's elected and its another month before he enters the white house. the road leading to his house is officially blocked off by police now that he is home but it wont be long before we get to use the road again. i didnt go to grant park which i truly regret, its a historical event! my friends didnt want to be part of the squeeze (crowd) and they cautioned me about potential riots and so i resigned and stayed home. but everyone around me's excited, even the professors in school. (its obvious they support obama) during my wed class, we spend the first half of the class talking about the elections. i had two classes on wed and one of my prof even played obama's speech on youtube and he was tearing while re-watching (i wonder know how many times he saw obama's speech). but i'm glad its all ended, i personally felt it was alittle too overwhelming, elections talk going on everywhere. plus, being in illionis and university of chicago, there seemed to be no room to be objective and a meer mention of republician will get you shunned.
overseas singaporean unit
moving on to something more personal, i went for an event organised by the osu. the only reason i went was for the free dim sum that was promised. but it was such hard work! we had to sit through a two hour speech by the (i forgot his title) ceo? of GE. he talked non-stop about earning money, GE doing well despite the poor economy, finance finance and more finance talk blah blah blah. it was so not my cup of tea. i even had a debate with him on helping the poor (work hazard) and his stand was "if you can help yourself, too bad". oh well, i doubt i'll be attending another of the osu events anymore. i didnt like the people i met either. they were obessed with knowing where u are from and it seems that after all is laid out they have nothing else to say. or is it just because my answer is always social work and people dont know how to respond. "hmmm, thats nice of you." pause. awkward silence. leaving you with some pictures of my singaporean friends, the nicer s'poreans. :)
it snowed flurries last sunday and i caught some on my sleeve. i was ubber excited about it that it took my attention away from shopping and i just wanted to stay out to catch more. it comes in shapes toooo! i've been making my classmates and friends excited about snow again! its supposed to snow from sat to mon but no snow in sight yet.. still waiting!
day trip to Indiana Dunes
i went to indiana yesterday (saturday) and it was a weird feeling. okay, some self disclosure. i still remember when i was 14, i had a crush on this 20-year-old guy in church. but before i got to know him real well he was leaving for college at purdue university and then, the states was a far far away place, let alone indiana which i have no idea where it is. but fastforward many years later, here i am, in the states, and at indiana!! hahaha. but i doubt he's still here but its a weird feeling. anyway, it was a wonderful trip! photos here! it was rather funny because the wind was so strong and sand was flying all around, we were covering our faces the whole time i wasnt able to enjoy the whole scene as much as i would love to but it was still beautiful nonetheless. another reminder of God's awesomeness in creating such beautiful creation that continually keep me in awe. video of the wind blowing the sand dunes, its supposed to make a nice sound but its just howling wind noise being captured in the video.
conclusion
okay, u made it through the whole post! congrats! i'll try to blog more next time okay so it wont be verbal diarrhoea all in one post. :)
