a conversation that was meant to laugh at myself ended up being an eyeopening conversation

was chatting with some friends one day, was telling them bout my equinox incident where i fell down n sprained my ankle.. something simple, meant to laugh at my clumsiness but someone feed backed that me being from a well-to-do background would not be able to mingle with the youths, cos apparently they're all from poorer backgrd (though that is not true..many of them r quite well off too)the person also added that all well-to-do people would congregate together...

i was quite taken aback then, kinda like the person was arrowing me.. i felt so wrongly accused, i was thinking why are u judging me by my background..firstly i wont tell the youths about my more luxurious lifestyle firstly cos they're younger and i talk different topics with them..n frankly, it's cos of this fact that i feel alot of satisfaction in life, precisely the reason y im going into the social work field -- so that i can help others..

it hurt that the person was judging me from my family background..though the person didnt say it directly i felt that the person was "aiming" at me directly..

yes, maybe im sensitive but then after talking to mummy i realised more about myself..
i dont like to be mis-judged or wrongly accused.. but i cant control how ppl wanna think bout me. they can form their own comments about me n i cant do anything..but mostly importantly, it's how i live it. im not doing a masquarade where im out to please everyone..
was reading sunday life just now, and one article spoke alot to me..

"People's ideas and fears can make them small- but they cannot make you small. People's prejudice can dimish them- but they cannot dinimish you."

people can say anything they want, i stop to listen and reflect, but it's my own choice whether i want to take what they say to heart. some words will pull you down, even though they may be meant for good but some are just trash, we can decide what we want to keep.. let's stay true to ourselves..

What you are today is God's gift to you. What you make of yourself is your gift to God.
